Karen Nairstone founded, curated and produced the Northern Design Festival from 2005 – 2018, and was responsible for festival theme through to commissions by international designers and regional showcases. Working with leading designers including Turner prize winners Assemble, Giles Miller, Jimmy Turrell, Noma Bar, Jonathan Barnbrook, Build, Pentagram, David Irwin, Crafts Council, Daniel Schofield, Material Driven, and Deadgood amongst others.
